In 1986, Cleveland tried to break the world record for the largest helium balloon release. 1,500,000 balloons were filled by 2,500 volunteers and then released. We now understand that balloon releases are terrible for the environment and ban them, but in Cleveland’s case there were a lot of additional problems.
