Pirates

The real Pirates (of the Caribbean) have been the subject of countless books and movies. We think of pirates in the form of sailing ships and “walking the plank” and “Arrr!”, Pirates of this form only existed from about 1650-ish to 1720=ish. They had a beginning (Privateers), a heyday (Port Royal) and a decline and demise (the massive earthquake at Port Royal and then the destruction of the new base at Nassua). What was reality like for these famous pirates?
